Before you head out into the sunny streets of Saigon, don’t forget to bring a pair of sunglasses, a hat, and your camera. Do leave behind your travel documents as you will not need these because you are going to have an enjoyable Ho Chi Minh City Tour experience.
Saigon has a variety of attractive locations for you to visit in your Ho Chi Minh City Tour and its surrounding areas. If this is your first time to set foot in this city, you better wear a comfortable pair of shoes or flip flops and start walking. Saigon is the most interesting explored on foot. In addition, some of notable places to see are close together just in an area. But if you find yourself lost, just catch a cab and let the driver straighten you out.
Dong Khoi Street in District 1 is a good choice to start your walking Ho Chi Minh City Tour by the Saigon River. At 6 o’clock in the morning and at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, you will see motorbikes being shuttled back and forth by boats across the river as people go about their business. In the evening, the river lights up with its floating restaurants - you will absolutely appreciate to tease your palate with delicious Vietnamese cuisine and your eyes with their cultural and exotic entertainment. Besides, there are obviously luxury hotels, nice souvenir stores, art galleries, and boutiques line Dong Khoi Street, as well as, various restaurants. Therefore, Dong Khoi Street provides a slice of life of Ho Chi Minh City.
Bitexco Financial Tower is a new addition to the Ho Chi Minh City Tour. This 262 - meter building was opened just last October 31st, 2010. This is the tallest building in Saigon. It can be seen evidently along Nguyen Hue Street - just a bit off Dong Khoi Street (take Ngo Duc Ke Street). Bitexco is an office building and some there are lots of shops from the ground floor to the fourth such as Adidas, Elle Cafe, and the Mac Center. Besides, you can go up the Saigon Skydeck by the fastest lift and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It also has a luxury bar for you to have a perfect night.
As you walk up to Le Loi Street, you would find yourself in front of the elegantly designed Saigon Opera House. Currently, this theater hosts cultural shows. Unfortunately, if you’re not watching any show, you can’t get in. It is usual to see couples here getting their prenuptial photos taken. If you want the whole theater in the background, cross the street and have your photo taken from there.
